Where'd all the water come from?

Hmmmm.... does this make sense to anyone?
I switched the tub to summer mode at 10 am Sunday and topped it off at the same time. We went in Sunday night and the water level was normal, slightly below the pillows. We skipped tubbing last night, went in tonight and the water level is a good 2 inches higher than it has ever been. I don't get it. My husband has this theory of water expanding as it cools and thus the increase. Yeah... I'm not quite buying that as the tub temp is varying during the day between 92-97 and was only at 98 before the switch.
I'm guessing in the am I will need to drain a bit out.
In the meantime just trying to figure out if there could be a logical explanation besides someone (not in our household) adding water and/or whatelse to the tub.

Wow, that is strange. I also switched to the summer mode at 9:00 AM on Sunday. My water level stayed the same though.
I don't think water can expand by cooling only a few degrees. If this were true all our plastic water bottles would probably burst in the refrigerator.

It's for sure not the expansion of the water due to any temperature change.
Maybe someone snuck in water on you when you weren't looking- for whatever reason.
Nothing else makes sense. It'd be easier to explain away a reduced water level.

and water (which is ice).
Do you usually tub togethor? Don't forget about the dispacement of the other person.
Lately my wife has noticed I've been displacing more water than before.
I blame Mr Sam Adams.

Ah, yeah, OK......
So your saying it went up by 2" WITHOUT you in it?
Lets see, your tub is roughly 7' X 7' of surface area = 49 SFT X 2" = 49 SFT X .1666 FT = 8.166 FT
3
= 61 gallons!
Even if someone peed in it, that's a LOT of water!
Me thinks someone HOSED you....

It is A LOT of water. It was obviously noticable to my husband before we got in the tub and that is saying a lot. I could paint the house red or sell the kids to a foreign country and he wouldn't notice.
The kids can't get the cover off so I know it wasn't them... I just don't see the point of someone pulling a trick of hosing the tub?

There would be no point in doing that, other than to play with your head.
But there really isn't any other way for the water level in your spa to increase, other than water being added.

What was the joke you pulled on roomates? one week you shorten thier pants just a little bit every day until they think they are getting taller, then a few weeks later you leaghten them for a week, then take in the waist.
Tomorrow Brook will find her water alsmost empty.

I heard a story about a guy who snuck gasoline, just a little at a time, into someone car who was obsessed with fuel economy- couldn't figure out why he was getting 70 mpg or something. Not sure if it's true or not, but I think it's along the same vein.
I won't even get into the pranks I pulled on my youngest sibling when I was in my teen age years and she was about 8 years old.

Brooke, I have started making a habit of locking my tub cover down...all the time. I have strange neighbors (actually the neighbors from hell) so I don't want to even give them a chance to mess with my tub. Hot tub pool boy may have a point...I have a spa blanket and typically my cover stays completely dry. After strong downpours (about 4 1/2 inches of wind driven rain) I found a little puddle in the middle of my spa blanket. Is it possible, as HTPB, thought that rain leaked into the tub...Or could someone have left the top open after shocking the tub and forgot to close it during a rain...(Something that I might do...go to bed and leave the tub open)...another reason that I am locking it every night! :-/

Originally I was going to give a warped answer but the fact of the matter is I don't want to get banned!
So, I'll say I have no clue other than someone must have filled it up!
