Eeek: What a Hot Tub
« on: May 28, 2006, 03:09:18 pm »
Greetings:  I feel like I am taking my car into a mechanic and his telling me all the things I need to fix...and I don't know what he's talkin' about....

I went into a company called "Royal Spa".  Found the sales pitch interesting...they have a quite 3/4 HP motor the currulates the water 24/7.  They said its super efficient, and demonstrated how the other motors on other Hot Tubs..kick on and off every 2 hours, sucking up power, and making a lot of noise....

Can anyone comment here??

thanks...!

You might want to give that sales person the infamous
"PYHO" award!!!   i.e.  Pull Your Head Out

Then after presenting it to him/her, go find a better brand.

Lower end company using old technology (air controls, etc.).

Find a reputable brand with a reputable dealer.

Good luck.

Boy that sure is a fact filled logical answer
that will really help someone asking for advice.

Is that supposed to encourage a
rookie to keep coming back to this site?

I would say "No" as well.  Royal uses old technolgy but charges todays high tech prices.  It's a snazzy sales pitch but I wouldnt want to pay premium prices for something that was "designed so I could fix it myself".  They are made in Indianapolis and only sold in close markets because the freight is cheap and they mostly use their own stores as outlets ( as opposed to an independant dealer buying them and reselling them)

Go back and "Tell Bob" no thanks.   ;)

Can any 1 provide top 5 questions...

I think I want Hot Tub to support a total of 6.

Would like to ensure it does not use tons of power...!?

thanks

If you are in cold environement and want to have the tub outside in the winter,  how a tub is insulated is a major concern.

There are 2 ways a tub is insualted: one is full foam the other is Thermalpane.   The benifits of each are debated quite a bit.  In a nutshell,  I think we can all agree the brand name tubs, all have idecent insulation.  The lower end tubs you'll find in some  of the big box stores, and some of the off brands, and no names made by local folks are of highly questionable qulaity and could cost you an arm and a leg to heat.

All you need to do is look around a little bit. Almost EVERY major manufacturer has, in the majority of their spas, a circulation pump. Just like that little one they showed you in their little presentation kiosk. They push a button and a little pump motor comes on along with a 40 watt light bulb and say "this is ours" Then they push another button and this gigantic motor comes roaring on(it's mounted to a hollow display, directly on the plywood, no rubber cushons like you find on all spas) and 2-500 watt halogen lights blind you and they say "this is theirs." Avoid this brand, cheap shells, cheap components, cheap sales tactics, this product is 100% CHEAP!
