What are the top 5 selling Spa Models?
« on: May 26, 2006, 11:57:26 am »
What are the top selling Spa Models by sales volume? I've heard some statistics by brand but never by specific Spa Model. I'm sure the marketing groups for the larger manufacturers have this information but I doubt it's public.

What are the top 5 selling Spa Models today?
2005 Hot Spring Envoy still going strong. Million-Mile Club....

I want to get in the spa business so I can surf the internet and use Photoshop all day long.

I would bet that the Optima is one. Envoy? Geneva?

As much as I would like to say a Caldera model, I don't think they are in the top 5, not enough dealers nationwide.

My stab at it would be (in no particular order)
Optima, Grandee, Altamar, Envoy or  Vista (not quite sure which one sells more) and vanguard

but sales volume doesn't tell the story about "what is the best model" sales volume is dependant on how many dealers there are and what spas they show on their floor.

I know it sells elsewhere, but the Altamar isn't even in my top 5!!

I'm just guessing. They sell a bunch of them in my area. It's either optima or altamar. I'm not claiming mine are exactly right, I'm just taking a guess. what else is in your top 5?

For last year it was:

1 - Optima
2 - Bahia
3 - Majesta
4 - Cameo
5 - Cayman

The fact that the top three don't have loungers probably has something to do with my personal preferences ;D

Term,
I have a question since spas unlike autos are not registered .... how are these numbers arrived at.....I would say who ever gave you these is making a guess based on what they believe to be true but I doubt any of it is verifiable unless all the makers open up their books to a independent auditor......

I will break the silence: vendors sometimes talk. Suppliers, truckers, dealers who have two brands, and other sources do exist to get a rough idea. HotSpring is the only maker who publishes numbers - as you can imagine, if anybody was even close, they would be making a lot of noise about it.

I believe that Term is correct in his listing.

Scale doesn't always mean best for everybody. But today's buyers are savvy enough that a poor product will not stay the leading seller.

No doubt vendors do talk but that would exclude model break downs....for example Marquis has 3 different spas that use the same cover if vendor told someone they sold so many Epics based on the amount of covers it would not be accurate....

Interesting I guess McDonald's makes the best burgers...or do they just have the most locations.....hummmm....... ;)
I agree that it would be tough for a poorly made product to stay on top....But if the numbers I have been told are close than it would be very difficult to think that Vanguards outsold the entire Sun-dance/Jacuzzi line....I would go as far to say that it is extremely doubtful.....

Agreed Mendo.

I want to be clear that I think HS has done some wonderful things for this industry as a whole but I just remember what I thought to be true when I worked for another manufacturer... ;)

Wow, this is really hard to believe. How can the Vanguard sell more units than all of Sundance and Jacuzzi combined? I was thinking maybe the Optima was #1 overall. Also, what happened to the Grandee? I thought it was a hot seller.
