I have had this for a couple years now and it is a stinking truck camper, but these things have come a long ways from the little cubby whole that you used to drive your truck under. Electric self leveling 4 corner jacks, as much grey, black, fresh water and propane as my 30 foot motor home, 6.5 CF fridge same as my big motor home, queen size bed, as much cabinets, same size wet bath. The only thing it is lacking is floor space inside but we have solved that with 2 awnings on the outside, where we spend most of our time when we are camping anyway.
Yes that is a slideout, the dinette and fridge. Opens up the middle real nice, and it's electric.
Thats not a trailer full of spas. And this camper is alot nicer than his.

30 foot motor home? That brings back memories. We used to go on vacations in my parents. Disneyworld from Frontier campground was a lot of fun.
Motor home tip - If you get stuck in mud, don't let Jethro pull it out with this tractor and tow chain.

Thats my Crestliner Tournament 182 fully welded hull, no rivets, with A Ficht Ram Injected 115 2 Stroke Evinrude. It's a screamer 55 MPH. Looses traction out of the hole. More fuel effiecient than a 4 stroke and cleaner burning, 35 percent better power to weight ratio but slightly louder but ya still gota add 2 gallons of 2 cycle oil couple times a year 150:1 ratio with a 10 HP Evinrude 4 stroke kicker. 4 batteries 2 trolling motors a Lowrance and 2 depth finders, marine radio AM/FM CD player, tilt wheel, dual auto circulating live wells and bait wells. Me and my boys fish in style

Ooh I love that... how many does it sleep? Do you keep it on the truck when camping or take it off? Can I ask a ballpark figure of what those cost? I didn't realize they had gotten so fancy. I think I talked J into a pop up tent trailer.... but I prefer that since it is safer given someone can't just cut the tent portion and climb on in. I would love to be able to go camping with my boys (without J) during the summer. What kind of truck is it on?

Because it is so easy to take it off the truck, and this is one of the reasons we bought it, we always take it off the truck unless we are traveling and it's just an overnight stop or a one nighter hunting. We use the truck to move the boat from lake to lake (Minnesota land of 10,000)
Unhook the tie downs plug in the controller and push the button, all four corners go down at the same time to lift up the camper. Once it has cleared the truck drive out and lower with another button untill it is almost right on the ground. This particular camper will only sleep 4 (my boys have there own tent) so there is only 2 who sleep in it.
Before we bought it we had looked at a few and put some dry weights on paper, when my wife decided she wanted one I said "that will not fit on my half ton truck so I will need another truck" So I went out on got a 3/4 ton truck as the camper fully loaded weights about 3200 LBS. I also have air bags to level out the boat and increase the capacity of the truck (2900) We searched and found only a few brands that had a full aluminum frame, fiberglass sides, walk on rubber roof, solid wood cabinetry, batterys and charger, sliding windows and roof hatches with exaust fans, AC, microwave, wired for cable and a powered antenea and a few other features we were looking for and found them to range from 15-30 grand with a slideout. Ours was 19,000. A bit more than a pop up sorry. But no wheels to take care of and no insurance. And a bit of a step up IMO Warmer or cooler depending on the season, and we are fully winterized (heated basement)
My brother has one that fits his half ton but it is alot smaller and has no bathroom, and you also have to crawl over someone in the cabover bed. He payed 6 grand. So there is quit a range out there if you do some investigating.
We started in a tent and moved up to a popup. Then we got a pull behind solid sided trailer and then a 5th wheel. Then we went through a class A and then a newer class C motorhome. And have now digressed to this for several reasons, it is easier to get around both traveling to and when you are set up. The reliability of the engine is not suspect because I drive my truck everyday. And the smaller size makes us able to camp more remote, and makes winter storage alot easier. We though the smaller size might be a detriment but found we spend most of our time outside anyway except to sleep. If it rains we tough it out under awnings and tarps untill we are thourally soaked and then we go home. Just like before. And unlike a motor home I can set up camp and take the truck anywhere hunting or fishing or shopping.
Sometimes it taks us a while to give up when it's raining.
And nobody campfire cooks like me.
