Filter no-no

If you have ever cleaned a real dirty filter, you know that it is easy to wish for a 'better way' to get this done. Either get it done faster, or get it done better, or both.

Some people reach for a bottle of swimming pool acid, and are thrilled to see it very quickly return the white color to the filter.

But a note on the Unicel site says: Do NOT use acid on a dirty or oily filter.  It will tend to permanantly clog the pores of the filter medium. Click http://67.52.110.165/unicel/images/cleaninstruc.gif to see the whole page.

our acid tank is generally reserved for swimming pool filters after they've come out of the first tank. Occasionally, yes, a metal-stained spa cartridge will go into the acid AFTER the first tank(tide, tsp, chlorine).
