If you have ever cleaned a real dirty filter, you know that it is easy to wish for a 'better way' to get this done. Either get it done faster, or get it done better, or both.
Some people reach for a bottle of swimming pool acid, and are thrilled to see it very quickly return the white color to the filter.
But a note on the Unicel site says: Do NOT use acid on a dirty or oily filter. It will tend to permanantly clog the pores of the filter medium. Click

our acid tank is generally reserved for swimming pool filters after they've come out of the first tank. Occasionally, yes, a metal-stained spa cartridge will go into the acid AFTER the first tank(tide, tsp, chlorine).
