Today's the day!
« on: May 13, 2006, 09:16:29 am »
It's been almost 6 months, since we used our spa. Our spa was moved so the pool deck could be redone.

With that said, what should I do as far as prepping it,to get it back in operation?

Thx,
Rich

Rinse it and empty it before you cap the drains and fill it up. This helps get out any bad water which may have been left behind.

Then follow your normal filling stuff: fill and balance, but be sure to give it a good strong dichlor shock - I would say that two ounces should be sufficient - and let that run through everything by moving diverters and such.

If you had to do anything special when the spa was delivered new - as in priming pumps by opening drain valves or loosening pump unions keep those steps in mind. Assuming you had to tilt your spa to move it, you may have to repeat those priming steps or not.

And then get the thing hot and get in! Be aware that rubber duckies which have been out of water for than length of time may be crabby at first.

Thx a ton Chas!  I did as you instructed, even drained it once after agitating all the water for an hour.

Crystal clear water!!

Guess I'll keep this spa for a few more years ;)

Auto: You have a beautiful back yard area. Everything looks great. What part of the country do you live in? Good luck with getting back into the tub. - Ron

Looks nice!

I noticed that you moved the two closed-face rotary jets out of the back of the recliner. Did you put them somewhere else or just dump them?

Chas,I know what you're referring to/thinking.......

The 2003 Caldera Geneva Utopia didn't have the closed rotary jets.  I did see em installed on the 04's on up. The difference too with the "versa-sauge" jets between the 03 and on up is.....the valves on the 03's are built within the jet itself, the 04's on up,the valve is controlled on the outside ring of the jet housing.

I did switch out if I recall,20+ euro jets,with the euro-pulse/spinnin jets.

I think I bought a few of em from you Chas :)  It was either you,or Bruce, from Hotsprings on the east coast here in FL.

As far as renting out a room,we do have a spare bedroom, all I require is that the female staying with you is at least a 7...and will use the spa(using a bikini naturally) at least every other day ;)
