Different Kinds Of Spa Shock?

Since my marquis uses bromine, I was wondering if there is a different kind of shock that i should use. I have pool shock, is that the same stuff in general?

Monk, Aren't you getting a chemical package with your tub?  I have found that managing the tub is much different than your pool. I have stayed with the chemicals that my dealer gave me and after a longer than usual learning period, I now have my water looking great.
I use SpaGuard Enhanced Shock with my bromine frog system.

You have to read the labels - some pool shock is calcium hypochlorite - DO NOT USE THIS.

If it's sodium dichlor ..... whatever, it's dichlor and you can use it in bromine. You can also use MPS

HTH in my experience in cal-hypo....keep that outta da tub.

You can shock with MPS (and various other non-chlorine oxidizers that usually have potassium in the chemical description), dichlor, lithchlor, brominating concentrate (85% dichlor) and I believe Brilliance.

Brilliance is a brand name that has an MPS shock.

I sit corrected. The only time I have seen the product in person was at the NSPI (or whatever they are calling it now in Canada) show in December.

With my Marquis with the inline frog system I shock once a week with MPS and add a little granular bromine or dichlor if the spa gets higher than normal bather load during the week.

Probably been said before, but with bromine you can use either dichlor or MPS as catalysts for shocking.
