Swirl Away

To all dealers out there, we are getting ready to do our first water change. We have never had any issues with our water, been easy to maintain, and get it tested at dealers on a monthly basis. Is it a must to use Swirl Away, or any such product. Would we okay just washing or rinsing tub before adding the new water? Just want to cover all bases. If this has been asked before, please forgive me. Thanks in advance.

Not a dealer and I used swirl away last week after a year.

I wouldn't use it for a first water change ... maybe after a year - at least that's what I did.

Hope this helps!

Some people have reported seeing massive amounts of junk removed from brand new tubs, possibly left over from factory testing.  After more than a years usage, I ran it and saw it remove a trivial amount of brown stuff from my plumbing.   I guess your results may vary. As long as nobody indicates the stuff is hard on spa plumbing, give it a try, at least it generally sells for less than $10.  I"m going to try the Leisure time equivalant on my next change in 2 weeks.

I only used it once when I first got a used tub.  It worked well. I  never thought of using it in my new  tub but I am comming up on the one year aniversary, and also think that maybe a yearly flush wouldn't be too bad of an idea. It's only $10.

Any thoughts?

I use it every other water change.  I've used both swirl away and spa system flush.  I have a bottle of the Leisure Time product for my water change (hopefully) this weekend.  It is inexpensive enough that I feel it is worth using on a consistant basis.  I got the most dramatic results the first use, but I still see it rustles up a bit of gunk.  Another benefit is jets get a good cleaning and spin better.

just drain it. refill it. balance it. shock it. Plenty of unneccesary products to buy out there. Good luck.

I agree with hotub.pool boy on this one.  Unless you can see some of your lines and they look as though there is build up forget it.  Especially since this is only your 1st water change.   I used it after one year and you know I may use it again but it won't be for a while.  the stuff is hard to get rid of.   Its like a detergent and it stays in your lines.  I guess you could blow out your lines with something and that may help.

But for now don't bother wait a least a year even if then.

When you use Swirl Away, how much extra cleaning do you have to with the gunk that gets flushed?  When using it do you remove filter(s)?  Directions on bottle do not say.
