water change - chemicals

What chemicals do you put in when you do a water change?  We've just changed our water and are told to add 1 bottle Eliminate 1, 4oz Eliminate #2, 7oz Purezyme #3, 1/3 cup Lithchlor and 2oz Pure Blue.  Then we can start with ph minus to lower the TA, and add Protect to increase calcium. Then they suggest another water test to make sure it's balanced and then to add SOFT.     Does everyone add all this stuff with every water change?  It seems a bit much to me.

I don't do all of that.

I refill than add dichlor run jets.
Once things have settled I add stain and scale per bottle instructions.  I test the water using my test strips and adjust TA or PH accordingly.

I will adjust TA first to get it into range and I usually come back to ph the next day and adjust that to range.

Deb hows you water quality? Are you happy with it?

What system/sanatizer are you using?

I think you are overdoing it, or are on a system that I never heard of.

What's going on?

I was wondering the same thing......I noticed an enzyme in there.....least I assume that's what "purezyme #3" is....the rest of the stuff is greek (or swahili) to me.  :-[

sounds like someone is trying make some extra cash off you.  I have never heard of that start up routine and it sounds very over kill to me.

I agree with others.  I add a little dichlor and some stain and scall and run it for a cycle to mix it all in and the next day I test to see if the Alk or PH need adjusting.

Really I think you are adding way to much chemicals.
