ALK or PH which to adjust 1st

Is there a certain order you should adjust one or the other.

I find latly for what ever reason my Alk is off.    Fresh water changer yesterday.

Cl is perfect
ALk lower end at 80
PH high end at around 8.2

If I raise the Alk will the PH drop?

When conditioning your water it is always best to adjust alkalinity first, calcium hardness second and finally the pH as the pH is affected by the amounts of calcium and alkalinity in the water.


When using PH down it will also lower your Ta, so I assume if you raise Ta your Ph will raise. Im a newbie here 3 weeks in hot tubs so im not to sure about that. I am assuming raising TA will raise Ph because it's the opposite effect.

Consider the letter "A" being the first letter in the alphabet, Alkalinity should be the first thing to adjust, otherwise your pH will bounce around like a tennis ball until your water base is in the proper Alkalinity range.
