More Aggravation

The Marquis dealer aforementioned just called:

"Great news! Bob the owner just said I could go to 8970 on the Destiny. Can I sell you one?"

Well, no, we don't think the Destiny is for us, and for sure not at that price.

"Well what other brands are you looking at?"

Sundance and HotSpring.

"What kind of prices are you being quoted?"

Well, they start with 7

"Well I have tubs in that range. But hey aren't as fully featured."

Well these have more features and are bigger to boot. Why would I buy something smaller with less features for the same money?

Silence.

At this point, now I'm a bit aggravated. I politely told him that we liked him and his dealership but that his pricing appeared to be out of line for what you get. All of it true.

He couldn't get off the phone fast enough. No "Thanks for checking me out." No nothing.

Yuck. I almost wish I'd never went in there.

Call him back and make him an offer, then turn him down.

LOL, that's cruel but if he really hung up without even politely ending the conversation with a "good luck" or "thanks for considering us" or "if you want to reconsider us we'll be here for you"  he deserves it.

Personally, I think it's a major plus that you DID go in there....now you won't ever think "maybe I should've gone in and checked out their salespeople and tubs..." because you have. You also realize that since they don't see you as a potential customer (silly mistake, you have friends that could eventually be looking), you're not worth common courtesy...
How do you think that particular dealer would handle warranty claims, or other work?

When people aggravate me on the phone, I'll at least tell them to "smack my crack" before I slam the phone down.  Jiminy Cricket!
