What do you guys think?
« on: March 29, 2006, 12:11:17 am »
I have access to a two year old Hot Springs Grandee in mint conditon for 3500 bucks...   How good of a deal is this?  She says it is spa blue... has every option (ozonator) etc.  Only option it doesn't have is the radio, which doesn't mean anything to me, as I'm an audio buff and I would rather put together something myself in that realm.

Is it up and running?  If it really is in mint condition, I would say $3500 is a steal for that tub.

Get the serial number located in the controls area to verify it's only two years old. Sounds like a good deal. I looked for over a year for deal like that. Why are they selling it?
2005 Hot Spring Envoy still going strong. Million-Mile Club....

I want to get in the spa business so I can surf the internet and use Photoshop all day long.

I'm supposed to go look at it tomorrow.   She didnt say if it currently had water in it.  The woman says that she purchased it for her son, but he moved off for college and her and her husband only used it a few times in the past year so they want to get rid of it.

Thats a great deal under one condition. It truely does work mint. Offer her half now if it's not running and the other half when you have it set up and have taken your first soak. If it's full and functional grab it.

If it's a good tub, then it's a good deal.

Never hurts to counteroffer at a lower price....if you get it for a lower price, then it's a better deal.

Lafayette, LA?  My brother lives down there (coaches football at Lafayette High).

I'm paying $8k for a new Grandee. IMO- If that one's what she says it is (I'd even let it slide if it's THREE years old, not two), and it's functional....sounds like a great deal. You MIGHT have to invest in a new cover, but in 2-3 years, it seems like that would be all.....
Also, if it's that new, it's still under warranty...if it's not filled, ask them to fill and start er up......anything wrong, it SHOULD be fixable under warranty, right? (well, not ANYTHING, but a LOT of stuff)
Best of luck!!

HotSpring only honors the warranty for the original  purchaser.

Right.  So identify any problems now, and have the woman get it repaired under warrenty before ownership is transfered.

Bingo!

Or negotiate a better price and "risk" it.

That's a great deal.  I just sold a 2 year old Vista for a customer for $6000 and that was a great deal.  Grandee is same size and same price range.

Good luck! :)
