Personal Request from Chas
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:40:45 am »
This is off topic, but I have promised my daughter to help and support her in this, so I would like to post a letter she wrote.

February 8, 2007

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know this past summer I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua in Latin America, and I want to thank all of you who helped me raise money, and those who prayed and supported me. I came back with a love for the people of that country and a strong desire to continue to reach out to the world with the love of God. I came home with a passion, and I have the opportunity this summer to return to Latin American. This July 14-25 my youth group is taking a group of young people down to the country of El Salvador. The trip will be about $1500 and I know it will be worth every penny and worth all the effort to go. I would appreciate any donations that you could make to help me follow the call of God on my life. Your prayers and encouragement would also be invaluable as I and my youth group endeavor to reach the country of El Salvador.

In November I went to a youth convention in San Diego and I received a passion for which I will live my life. I made a commitment to God that “if there is one person who has not heard the name of Jesus, I will seek him out and show him the love and passion that God has for him.” I am writing to give you, my family and friends, the opportunity to partner with me in my effort to follow the call God has placed on my life. I know that this is something that will forever change my life and the lives of the people and children of El Salvador.

We will be going with an organization called Castillo del Rey (King’s Castle), and we will be staying at their facility, or wherever we are needed. I am very excited about this trip and I’m very excited about what I know that I am going to be able to see God do in me, my friends, and those we come into contact with on this trip.

This trip starts now, with prayer, fundraising, and more prayer. I am asking that, if you are able, you help me follow the call of God and support me in prayer, through monetary donations, and through encouragement. Checks should be made out to “Ventura First Assembly of God” with my name in the memo. Any donations are tax deductible. Please send donations to:

First Assembly of God,
Attn. Youth Department
346 N. Kimball Road
Ventura, CA 93004

Thank you all so much for your support and help. I am looking forward to a completely awesome and life changing summer with your help. If you have any questions about the trip, or simply want to contact me please PM my dad on this board, or email at KJMMJS@AIM.com.

Thank you and God bless,
Kristen

I was under the impression that this is a consumer's web board.

I may be wrong - will not be the first time - but I would think your post would make more sense in an email to the various individuals here...

I wish her the best but this would be better served in a PM format or the BS section and not on a hot tub forum. I believe you gave that advice once...  ;)

Tolerance, Steve...Granted this is not hot tub related, but I think that Chas has proven to be an invaluable asset to this forum and a friend to all of us...He is not pushing any adgenda and what he is sharing won't hurt any of us....Many of the posts that start out being Hot Tub posts, end up being way off topic. Chas just started his post that way.. Maybe we should all be saying We are here talking about hot tubs and the luxuries that we can enjoy, there are many many others who just want to survive on this earth that we all share.  And if the message that Chas' daughter brings gives them hope, I think that is commendable...Where better than a forum like this to tap the resources of folks who have plenty?  ;)  Just my opinion

Its hard to see where to draw the line sometimes. It would have been offensive to move this message into a BS board, so I renamed it.  8-)

I agree my dear. I was just having some fun with Chas and using his own words on a reply he gave me once... Where were you then?  ;)

Good stuff Chas.....Compassion and selflessness are rare commodities and are not learned without example. You have reason to be proud.

Hello Chas !!! My oldest sons are both on mission trips. Please tell your daughter that she is a great encouragement to us all. She is displaying more genuine qualities of love and care and faith than any of us as "grown adults" would ever dream of showing (mostly because of fear) We are surronded by opportunities to bless others. unfortunately Its easier for us to one finger salute someone who just cut us off than it is to pull over and help someone fix a flat tire. Your daughter and others like her will impact this society now and in the near future and it is exciting to see how The Lord is using a lot of the young people around us. She is in our prayers :)

General info Somewhat hot tub related
Somewhat or barely Hot tub related. Moderator reserves the right to delete or edit as needed.

Didn't this used to include something like "no religious or political topics"? Dont get me wrong, I think Kristen's intent and heart are inexactly the right place, I'm just uncomfortable on a public forum being asked to pray.

It's up to the mods, not us to determine it's relevancy.
Plus I think Chas might and should be an exception to some of the rules. 8-)
