UPDATE on Jacuzzi J-355 FLO problem!!!
« on: March 07, 2006, 12:06:25 pm »
The tech came out early today to look at my Spa.
He looked at the LCD display and saw it said 76 degrees.
Put his hand into the Spa and ir felt warmer,so he put a  Temperture Guage into the water and it said 85 degress.
So the tech said that there are two Temp sensors in the Jacuzzi, and took one out and  he shows me that the spa is running good now, whith out the FLO on....
I had him also put in a FLO swtch just in case if thats not the problem......
The tech told me why I might have got the ---(watchdog}Because maybe in the Display it said 101 degress but with the Bad temp sensor and really the spa could have been at 108 degress and thats why the Watchdog went on......
Everything is working well and glad I asked him to put the FLO switch in anyway.....Guess the $90 service call was worth it..........JohnnyT

Good to see he fixed it and you're whole again. Out of curiosity, did you know at time of pruchase that they charged such a large trip fee for warranty work?

My opinion as a dealer...

Let the tech do his job.  Diagnose and replace defective part.  Most likely the defective thermister was the problem, not the flow switch.  Most manufacturers will not reimburse dealer/service company for a part replaced "just in case" if it is not defective.

If you wanted this "elective surgury" you should pay for the flow switch.

Just my opinion.  Flame on. ;)

Spa in 1 year 9 months old.....
Nope I never asked what it would cost and thought everything was included in the warentty but I was wrong and next time i will ask.
Yep you are right I am not a Spa doctor but since Jacuzzi INC told me it might be a Flo switch i felt it didnot hurt to ask the tech because i missed many good nights by not being able to use the spa........
Hoping we will get many more cold nites but then again they are calling for 68 temps in the northeast on thursday dammmmmm......JohnnyT :D

Y'all are forgetting that initially JT said he had 4 minus signs on his display. This is "watch dog" mode. and it typically means a bad temp sensor, or a bad flow sensor. You can reset your system by shutting the spa off for a few minutes, but ultimatly, until the problem is corrected properly, this will be a recuring issue.

But then, what do I know.

If the tech said it might be the flow switch then you all did right replacing it.  Sounds like he might of been guessing to me.  All the better for you. ;)

if he put it in under the warranty, then good for you.  I have seen the temp sensors go bad and start reading 10 degrees hot or cold but that could not cause a flo message having the temp sensor be bad.

Tech told me once he changed the temp Sensor the the FLO when OFF in the Display,,,,Asked him to replace the FLO while he was at it and it was not a problem with him.........
I think it was a TEMP because the night after he fixed it I had my Jacucci at 101 and when I stepped in it it didnot feel that hotttt.
Before he fixed it when I went into the spa at 101-102 the water was sooooo hot my legs was reddd lol.
And thats what the tech said because with a Bad Temp switch the display might say 101 but the spa really is at 108-110 and thats why the WATCHDOG went on...Dammm thought it was me that I cannot take a 101 degree temp in the spa and most likely it was around 110 degress...............JohnnyT

After reading some of the posts here I went to the pool store and bought a floating temperture gauge. Now I have a cross check to make sure the water is what the panel says. It was only 7 dollars.
