slow down!! if the price is good today it will be good tomorrow. Wet test a few tubs and look around before you make 10-15 year decision. I have no hands info for either brand.  Good luck

No problem there..... We have been looking for a year now. It is either the HS Envoy or the Coleman 482. We have an opportunity to buy a leftover 2005 at a nice price with all accessories included. The Envoy, the cover, the lifter, the stairs, two pillows, a seat cushion and chemicals for a month for $7995.00. The Coleman comes in at $7795.00.

Both brands are well built spas.  i do sell coleman spas and Jacuzzi spas.  the 482 is a great spa. a lot of jets, two 3hp continuos duty pumps.  warranties are very comparable the hot ssprings uses the moto massage jets, which in my experience you either love it or hate it.  if possibble you should try and wet test.  the coleman also uses a steel frame and sealed pan bottom, while hot springs does not.  hope this helps at all write back if you have more questions :)

The Coleman Price seems too high. I saw a 2004 481 deluxe (no lounger) for about $6400 in NJ. That was in 2004 and prices did go up but $1400 seems steep. I know my tub increased by about $400 over the previous year.

Maybe the 482 has more in it than the 481 had in it ... just my $0.02!

prices can really vary from region to region.  the 481 was not the most popular model for coleman.the neck collar seat was way to deep for most people. that price could have been a special one time price or that dealer is doing such a high volume their margins are much lower than what other places need to stay in business.

The Coleman was the only "premium" spa that was that price range other than the Beachcomber 300 series if I remember correctly, all the other manufacturers spas were their secondary line. And I know about price differences ... there's someone on this board who bought the "sister" spa to mine and paid $1000 less but he wasn't buying in NJ.

The Envoy seems like a good deal. It is confortable lots of power and 5 completely different seats, and strong foot jets. The Tri-x filters are wonderful, just rinse them every few weeks and throw them in the dishwasher at water changes. We have had ours for 10months and are very happy with it

if the spa had no lounger than it was a 480 not a 481 and again you saw a price in New Jersey, and I doubt that is the standard price for a 480, 481, or 482 for all of new jersey.  I don't doubt you know about Price differences but that dealer could have had that price for any number of reasons. was it a single store dealership? was it a multiple store dealership? depending on how many spas that dealership sold they could have a discount from coleman based on their sales numbers that another dealer does not have.  So to say a price seems too high based on a price you saw for a 2004 model without clarifying what that price included or if the spa was a floor model or a custom order isn't entirely accurate.  if the price seems in line to other comparable spas in the area it probably is.  just mho.

Regarding the Coleman, are we comparing apples to apples?

The 480, 481 & 482 all cost the same within the same series. So Nocluehere, Vinny, are we talking about Standard, Deluxe or Premium? Were/are there any options included? Ozone, stereo, lighting (if it wasnt a premium), stainless etc...

You cannot go wrong with a Hot Spring Spa.  And the price you listed on the board is VERY fair for that model with those features!  Wet test them both, and make your choice!

The Coleman I saw was a deluxe with cover, steps and I think lifter. Might have had other "stuff" included, I don't remember. It came from a multi-purpose store (pools, pool tables and spas) with spas being 3rd thought and they have a few locations.

dpgtech,

As far as the price I saw, they were the only dealer that came up during a search on the Coleman's site. They printed out the price on a computerized list of what was to be included, maybe it was a sale price, maybe not. Maybe they're crappy as a service department, I don't know as I didn't buy my spa from them. Maybe we're not comparing apples to apples ... but the price I got is the price I got!
