I guess the "safety straps" on the Wii remote units are proving to be too weak to do any good. If you own one, they should be sending you new, stronger straps. You did register with Nintendo now, didn't you?

Another case of consumers as victims. Guess common sense has no meaning any more...."I was flailing my arms wildly and wouldn't you know it, the strap broke!" Well, duh....

My sons waitied in line overnight early December and got a Wii when they were tough to get. It REALLY is interactive so I can understand the issue but I think some of this is due to spastic people throwing teh controllers, not just the strap breaking. They registered for the strap replacements and got them last week. They are an upgrade and I think they'll work just fine.

I am NOT a video game guy so when I play with them it's an absolute joke because my 3 boys are sooo good at it and I feel like a 1-legged man in a relay race but it's a great system. I do like playing the golf and bowling because they're so life like and I already know how to do that so I can hang with them on those games.

I own a Wii and I cant for the life of me imagine how hard you would have to whip this thing to a)get the strap to break and b) have it go through a crt.
Been playing for a month now and hove come no where close to breaking the strap

Video games have SAFTEY STRAPS!?  Gawd, what next.  A 5 point racing harness and a crash helmet?  Gimme a break. ::)

I smell a scam.  First, that is a 50" or maybe 52" screen, not a 70.  Its a rear projection like mine. I've held the Wii remote and seriously doubt if you could throw a remote through it.

is there anything manmade that DOESN'T have to come with a warning label anymore?? The kidlet probably got bopped in the puss because he was crowding another kidlet that was playing at the time (like that never happens, right?)...sad, but that's what parental supervision is for.....unless it's the parents that are doing the puss bopping...in which case, "Hey, you! OUT of the gene pool!!!"  :D

No-  Pretty much everything has some type of warning lable on it.

Lawsuit happy citizens, and money grubbing attorneys have pretty much forced ridiculous warnings on almost everything.  And we're paying for it.
Couple that with the "I'm not responsible or accountable for anything bad that happens to me", attitude, and this is what we get.  Either that or mankind in general has become extremely stupid and needs to be protected from themselves.  Bring on the Nanny State!

I just waited in line for 3 hours in the freezing cold to buy my boys a Wii.  Almost had to fight some stupid lady, who tried to cut in line.  Security even had to come over, lol.

J's lucky I was feeling sorry for him, don't think I woulda done it for him if he wasn't hit by an SUV.   :)

This thing is dangerous for adults and animals as well.  Now, I will totally take the blame of user error... but crap my hand is killing me.  I was bowling and hot the dog in the face.  Not the small dog either, the big ol 70lb Dalmation. I'm not sure who it hurt worse.  I must say I've always hated video games, but having this interactive one is pretty cool.  Even if I suck at it.   :)
