New hot tub: chlorine

We finally got our Hot Springs Vanguard up and running yesterday. The service person took the first water sample to the store to run the sample. My husband called them this morning, and the service person told him to add more chlorine (as well as other chemicals). My husband added what he was told, and now the chlorine level is showing it's too high on our test strips.
How long will it take for the chlorine level to go down for us to be able to get into our tub? (We have not used it yet). The booklet says it takes time, but no mention on how long...hours? days?...
Love this forum, it's got so much information!

First of all, congratulations on your new spa. It's a great one!
To resolve your overchlorination issue, open the cover, turn on the jets and let her run. This will dissipate the chlorine to an acceptable level. Should only take an hour or two unless you really overdid it. If so, drain half the water and refill.
Good luck and enjoy!

If the chlorine is 5,6,7,8,9 even 10 PPM it is still ok to soak in it but it may smell like chlorine, and if you have a sensetivity to chlorine it may show itself. But alot of commercial pools and spas run very high chlorine levels all the time.
