freezing cover locks

I keep the small straps for the cover locked down because it is usually windy when the weather is bad. The last few nights temps. were about 20 to 30 degrees F and I found the straps frozen in place. It seems that when the water is melting during the day the water is flowing over these strapes and later freezes. They freeze hard enough that I could not release. had to get warm cloth to melt. Is this typical of cover or just mine (Pipen Glen)

I get that every now and then just be careful they don't break. using the warm cloth is a good Idea.

Don't have a few drinks.

Don't use de-icer

When that doesn't work, DON'T use a lighter.....











No damage, just startles ya!

This happens on occasion, but not regularly. Is the water that is freezing coming from the elements or your spa?

I think the water coming from both, I watched the water flow off the cover onto the straps when it warms up. later when the temp drops it freezing the release of the strap to the lock. All the straps were frozen, twice! I am doing web-search for cordless heat gun!

My long term plan is to enclose tub in glass sunroom, that will solve problem!

We get that sometimes, too.  Water drips onto to straps and freezes.  They will break if you force them too much.

I've had that happen a few times with the "snaps" that hold the cover down.  A little warm water usually takes care of it quickly.

Then I jump in and pour a little "De-Icer" in me to keep from freezing.

I just had another one break.  I picked up a new set of locks and replaced them all.  Cost was about $8.
