Re-Using Filter Cleaning Water????

I own a HS Vanguard Tub.  I have been cleaning the 5 filters in it on a monthly basis in the filter cleaning solution that I mix with warm water in a plastic trash can.  

My local dealer says I can re-use the cleaning solution water more than once as long as I can the trash can covered when it is not in use.  He stated he would not use it for more than 3 months as by then it is time to get some fresh cleaning solution & water.  

Anybody else do this or any other dealers recommend this.  The filter cleaning solution is about $10.00 for a quart.

 Ive been using the same filter cleaner for the past 6 months. Ive soaked my 2 filters  three times in it. I keep it in a covered 5 gallon bucket and it still worked fine the last time i used it.

I looked at the vanguard and saw all the filters and said "no way do I want to clean all those filters!"

The sales rep said you only clean 1 filter a month (the first one) and rotate them .  That's why one filter is a different color (to be able to tell what was the last one you cleaned).

Has anyone else been told this? Do you do it? How does it work for you?

Brewman, as I recall you found a dealer that offers filter cleaning service.  I've been curious about that and, while I don't want to hijack this thread, this seems as good a time to ask as any .  What kind of procedure do they use?   Do they have some mechanized method, or are they doing it like we do at home?  Do you think they use the same cleaning solution on your filters that they did on the previous customer's?  Is it while you wait, or do you drop them and pick up later? Thanks.

I drop my filters off, and go back and pick them up a few days later.  Now that you mention it, they have one of my filters waiting, which I need to go get.  
I have not asked them about their process, but it's a good question.  If I remember to, I'll ask when I go back to get that filter.  Perhaps they'll allow me to see the cleaning stuff.  
Whatever method they're using, my filters come back looking cleaner than I was ever able to get them.

I use the same filter cleaning solution for three months and then discard.  I use a filter flask to clean with which makes it very easy.  During winter I only rinse off filters because I do not want to have to deal with thoroughly rinsing filter cleaner solution out of the filters when it is freezing and I don't have access to a hose with a good spray.  The kitchen sink just doesn't cut it.  Winter tends to be a very "clean" time of year for the spa.  Not much pollen, leaves, etc getting into it.

Next spring I am going to try something different.  I think I will try the spray on cleaner monthly and every three months soak overnight in solution.

Since you have 5 filters, I would say you should be able to get 2 uses out of a quart container. Make sure you keep it covered though if you are going to save it. I don't think much about their just cleaning 1 filter every month, you should be pulling them all out and cleaning them out with the garden hose monthly, all 5 of them. Then about every 3-4 months using some type of filter spray or filter cleaner to give them a deep cleaning. Like somebody mentioned above, I wouldn't want to sit in a tub with disgusting filters in it. The garden hose technique works great though, it's quick and it really does clean them out. Just hold the hose at a 90 degree angel and start from the top of the pleats to the bottom, all the way around the filter! Throw them back in and enjoy for another month!

Wast not want not I say.  I was told three times and I use it three times and have never had a problem.  Yes its cheap to buy but why waste it if it can still be used.    If the solution still looks good I'd reuse for three cleanings.  If your filters were really dirty and the soultion looks bad then I'd toss it.

It may not be much you save by reusing it buy hey we have to give enough money away these days so if I can save some bucks, better in my pocket then somone elses or in this case better then down the drain.
