Cover Lifters: Uprite vs CoverCradle

My first choice would be the covercradle, but I'm not sure I have room for it against the wall.  I could turn the tub and have it on the side, but then we wouldn't be able to put a sourround or benches there.  Does anyone have the Uprite and have any feedback on it?  It would be aginst the wall, which just has about 6 ft of dirt, plants and dog poop before the fence to the neighbors... so it wouldnt really be blocking the view.

Any feedback?

I don't know the difference between these units.  Here is a webaite that has several lifters that require different clearences:

The cover cradle needs approx 2' clearance while as the uprite only takes up abot 8 inches, if you are in a high wind area I would lean towards the cover cradle, the uprite makes a good sail in a high wind, if it is up against a wall area then you'll be ok.

We have an upright lifter and love it.  The plan was to build a lattice wall in behind our tub so we wanted as little clearance as needed.  I think ours needs about 6 inches and it is SUPER easy to open and close.

This lifter is made by Ideal.  This is the same company that supplies the covers for Sundance.  It fits and works perfectly and would highly recommend it.

If you have 2' it's tight but will work, 25 inches, stacks of room, ( just measured my floor model).

You should be ok with either of the lift systems.  The cover cradle seems like it will be close, but should work for you. I measured it and it looks like at most you will need 25 inches.  I would go with the cover cradle if I were you.  By the way, what tub are you getting?

I will double check my measurements today.  I think I will put tape down on the grass and draw everything in so that I can actually see where things would be.  

The man doesn't like the look of the upright, I don't mind it at all.  I would rather have that, then have to turn the tub and have the cover facing the street.  Hopefully there will be enough room to make it work.  He wants me to go with the cradlecover (regardless where we have to position the tub)... so I think I will make my call and get everything rollin'.

I want to wait to announce the tub until all my ducks are in a row.  I don't want one to get ran over crossing the street and have my dreams crushed.    I can say it's awesome tub at an awesome price and  better than anything I thought I could get in my budget.

The reason I was asking, is, if it is a perfect square you can mount the lift either front to back or side to side.

I have the Covercradle and love it--thanks Chas and Terminator for the input. I don't have a space requirement behind the spa.  If you don't have 24" you might want to consider the Upright.  I personally didn't want to stare at the cover while I was in the spa.  Also, I live in a high wind area.

You could also look at the Covermate III that stands up like the HS Upright.  I believe the construction of the HS versions are superior but they also cost more.
