New Rocky Movie

My 15 yr old son is a HUGE fan of the Rocky movies. He’s been watching them endlessly the past few years. My wife even made him a replica yellow/black robe to wear for Halloween with the stallion profile and all a few years ago. He was thrilled when the news came out about a new Rocky movie and he searched the internet for Rocky news. Last October he told me we could sign up on-line to be in the crowd scenes for the new Rocky Balboa movie. We went on-line and the only problem was you had to be 18 to get in but he was 14. He was bummed. I decided we’d take a shot so we signed up and got our schedule. We got to Mandalay Bay building in Vegas where they were shooting about 1½ hours early and the guard let us wait inside since it was cold. When the proper time arose they were checking people in at the door but we were already in. Then there were the sign-ups where they check you again to give you your pass but we just had my wife sign up and we gave him her credentials. He and I then spent the day in various crowd scenes and when they’d tell us where to go we’d sneak into a better group instead of being sent farther away from the ring area. They then picked about 20 people to do the walk bys around the ring before the fight and we just joined in hoping to get in some close shots. We snuck into the good group so we sat about 6 rows back of the ring for the fight introductions hoping to get seen. It was a good time and he was thrilled. They also warned everyone to stay away from the back side of the ring where the actors hang out. When it was lunch time we just walked over there with some of the crew people and walked right by Sly to the point where we had to excuse ourselves to him when we walked by him since it was a narrow isle way (the guards gave me a funny look like “what the hell are you doing over here”). We did get to say high to “Paulie” who was really nice and shook my son’s hand which he thought was cool.
Anyway, we went to the movie opening with about 10 of his friends last night. They’ve had to listen to him talk about this movie for the past year thinking he was probably embellishing our exploits to try to get in some shots. Sure enough the part of the movie where Rocky’s opponent is introduced in the ring and there was my son, clear as day a few rows behind him in perfect view and clearly in focus. It lasted about 10 seconds and all his friends noticed it without anyone even pointing it out, it was that obvious. Of course I was totally blocked out of view but I’ll get over it. For now, in his eyes I am father of the year (for a day at least). Later when he starts complaining about me not doing something the way he’d like I’ll simply remind him that I was responsible for getting him in the movies.
And the movie was a good ending to the series. Now maybe we can pretend Rocky V never happened.

That is sweet. I took my daughter to see her life long dream, a taping of The Price is right. Her and her mother got rows on the aisle and were on TV at least a dozen times. I had to sit at the other end of the next row behind Rod's big butt. I did burnt that to DVD.
You will have to post a pic of him so we will know when we see him in the movie. I wonder if Rocky uses a hot tub after a workout? I know what kind his opponent uses. but I don't want to DAIT myself.

Very cool for your son!! (And you)
I remember when I was a kid they were filming a few shots for the movie McQ by my house in Aberdeen Wash, Anyway my friend and I stood outside John Waynes trailer and out he came shook both our hands and said how you boys doing? Well for a couple of kids prolly the coolest thing that could ever happen to us.
I still remember it 35 years later like it was yesterday.
So how was the movie overall??

Thats pretty cool. Tell your son he has 14 minutes and 50 seconds more of fame. You never know about stuff like this. Strange things happen.

I once had a small walk on roll in "Horny Hot Tub Bimbos Vol II".
I played the Spa repair tech. I was the one with the big filter, and arguing with the young lady who owned the hot tub about N2 and Dichlor.
