Did You Know Part Tre'

I'll wrap it up quick as I can.

Stopped by the SofTub booth.  I was surprised at how nice they looked for what they are.  I told the guy I was a HotSpring dealer and he replied "I tell people if they want a top of the line spa, don't get anything but a HotSpring." (I'm sure he tells the Sundance, Marquis, and Phoenix Premium people the same thing)  "If you don't want all the bells and whistles, try a SofTub."  I wished him well and waddled off to find some roasted corn and SHINER BOCK.

Went by the Superior Spa (Oklahoma mfg) booth.  Twice.  No one there either time.  Spas were FILTHY.  Pillows were damaged.  Looked like CRAP.

Went back through the exhibit hall and thought I'd try Aries one more time.  Stood there for 10 minutes and finally someone spoke to me.

"Yeah, I've got thousands of spas in Longview.  We go over there once a week to service them."  Now, I've gotten a few calls from Aries owners that have spa problems.  Everyone of them said they cannot get a service person to work on them.  We haul a few off each year as trade ins.

"You won't see HotSpring, Jacuzzi, D-1, Marquis out here.  They know they can't compete with us."  "Our spas are just like a HotSpring, only $2,000 less."

I wished him well, told him he had a nice booth, and left.

Rounded up the family, grabbed a sausage-on-a-stick for the road, and headed home.

Epilogue

I have never shopped for spas before.  I have never set foot in my competitors' stores.  All I can say is that I feel very sorry for anybody that is trying to wade through all of the BS in order to buy a spa.

What I liked:

Aries really presented the spas in an inviting manner as far as their display

Sundance's stereo system sounded great

Hydropool's double lounge was cool.  I had thoughts of getting my groove on in it!

The spa enclosures that different companies had looked nice

Nordic had a jet that nearly took my hand off.  It was the only one running, though

What I disliked:

Many of the spas looked very cheap

Tiny LED lights around the perimeter look like something out of Close Encounters of the Third Kind

I hate it when I stand in a spa and the floor flexes

No one asked me what I wanted in a spa

Filthy, dirty spas do not incite yearnings for ownership

Factory reps evidently have no dental plans

Fin,

Terminator,

I have to give you a lot of credit. You are not an owner of a dealership/store, but you do seem to really strive to learn from your experiences and shop around to see what the compitetions offer and what's going on.  Your boss should keep an eye on you, otherwise someday you might be his competition.

Thank you for the compliment, drewstar.  I appreciate it!

The guy I work for is THE best boss in the world.  I will never work for anyone else.  If he got out of the spa business and started selling panty hose, I'd go with him.  He generously compensates me for what I do, but I do sell a lot of spas for him and he knows he can trust me.  He sometimes takes a look at this forum and gets a kick out of it (especially the Tammy pics).  He likes to have fun at work and wants our customers to have a good time, as well.

Hey term. Could you do me a favor and let tammy know she left........ ehhhhem......... ummmmmmm, well, a few things when she left here the other morning.

thanks buddy.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

I'd say this is a pretty fair representation of most of the factory direct guys I dealt with at the fair.
