To raise T.A. without raising PH add sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda).  If your T.A. is out to lunch, PH can be very hard to control.  Here is a link to a doseage calculator:

I was wondering if using Bromine/NaBr would make the water feel conditioned, which based on exchanges here, it might.  I used to have a water softener at my old house and when I had it, in the winter, my skin never seemed to dry out as much as after it broke.  Too softened though and it seemed like you could never get dry after a shower.  Guess I'll see soon.
