Does anyone know about an insulating kit for the Tiger River Spas? ??? We plan to use our tub outside in the winter. The booklet that came with our spa said may need insulating kit.

Seeing as your in Germantown, NY,  I would say you shouldn't need any additional insulation kit for winter town. I'm in Upstate and never had a problem.

The part # is 31398. All watkins manufacturing dealers can obtain this for you.

I can ship from ct. if you'd like. in-stock.

When I was spa shopping, my HS dealer pitched how well insulated their spas were, they didn't lose much heat, bla, bla. Well,  why would you need a winter insulating kit if the spas are so well built and insulated????? I'm not bashing HS, but which is it?  Well insulated or need a "kit"?

They're talking about insulating the equipment compartment better to reduce air flow to the outside when it's very cold outside. This is a pretty standard practice when you live in bitterly cold areas. That really has little to do with insulating the water in the spa. Is it necessary? It doesn't hurt and when you live in areas that get down toward 0º you take extra precautions.

What does the insulating kit consist of?  Is it something easy you can do yourself?  I read that you need to remember to take it back out again when the warmer months return so the spa doesn't overheat. Is that right?   Do you think it is worth doing in the Denver metro area?  We only get maybe several days a winter that are in the single digits and below.

It's fiberglas insulation faced with plastic. like kraft-faced insulation, but plastic faced and sized for the large watkins equipment compartment door. It is something you can do yourself/ and or fabricate yourself.

Yes, your right, you need to take it out once the cold is gone.

could be worth doing in your area.
