Cloudy Spa Water
« on: September 12, 2005, 10:59:26 pm »
We just purchased our Down East Spa (Master Spa) on Aug 15.  I have always maintained the chemicals properly.  we used it on Friday and the water was crystal clear, we used it on Sunday and it was milky.  I have added chlorine and non cholire shock, it's still cloudy, any suggestions??

Once the sanitizer (chlorine) hasn't met the demand, the water can turn a bit cloudy or worse as this prolonged. Adding a stabilized chlorine and maintaining a slightly higher reading than usual, it should clear eventually with proper filtration and chemical balance assuming your water hasn't surpassed its TDS reading of 1500.

Depending on how old the water is, give it a few days with a 4-6ppm reading of chlorine and it should come around for you. A sequestering agent (clarifier) and cleaning your filters can help.

It always easier to add a small dose of dichlor after use than trying to correct cloudy water.
