Things like this will become more and more common in the spa industry as long as manufactures continue to sell to any and every Tom, Dick and "Stacey" that proposes to be a dealer!

This has happened more than once in the last 2 years in our area and is well on the way to happening again with two different guys selling out of their garages and on the internet!

Manufactures need to be even more diligent in their research of a prospective dealer than the average customer does....After all, the spa has their name on it not the dealers!

Many of these small less known manufactures fall into the trap of wanting to be in an area so badly that they will take anyone regardless of BBB standing, Credit Rating, Court History or even whether or not they own enough property or collateral to protect the customers/factory incase they want to pack up and leave by the dark of night some time....

My vote would be to boycott manufactures that have a history of this....We have seen it in our area more than once with companies like Sunco, HydroSpa, Phoenix, Southwest and Gulf Coast spas just to name a few of those that don't seem to care who buys and sells their product as long as they are selling.

Unfortunately, the spa industry is still young enough and unregulated enough to support manufactures like this for some time.

An unethical dealer is a sad thing fortunately however they never seem to last long but unethical manufactures survive on the backs of dealer after dealer for way to long! So please don't hesitate to mention the name of "The other is in South East Texas. To be named later"...They too hold some of the responsibility by giving this person the tools to commit fraud!

Hi Stuart
This is Rocky. I can give you some hints as to the suppler selling to two markets.

I'm a Jeweler and we have the same situation.
I can pass a few jewelry related ideas to show them that they are only hurting everybody with their marketing strategy's.

Here is all the information I have on the other supplier
for her.
I spoke with Roxxanne in Conroe/DickinsonTx.
the name of the company may be  Sunquest Spas.
Phone numbers are 832.749.1001 and 832.385.1233.
These may be personal cell phones.

They supply her with cabinets is what they told me.

Stacey has a new company name called
"Isles of the Carabean spas" in Saganaw Tx.
That's all I have for now.

uh, i think gulf coast spas push their tubs out of warehouses.  if i wanted to i could sell gulf coast.  actually they were the first spa i considered buying, till i slapped myself in the face.  i couldn't even wet test that brand.  but some people get lured in by the ad they put in newspapers, it goes something like this.  hot tub for sale, still in wrapper, 9,300 retail will sacrifice for 3,800.   i must admit that line was an eye opener,  but i didn't fall for it, especially when i couldn't even wet test a single tub!

You used your God-given common sense hair, something that victims of these scams don't tend to do.  One of the first things I remember my father teaching me was "If it sounds too good to be true, it is."  It's never failed me yet.

Just out of curiosity, and considering they are located only an hour from me, I checked out Sunco's website, with absolutely no intention of patronizing them.  I was actually impressed with how well their site is designed and the q&a section is great.  If only they ran their reputation the same way.
