Is this HS price out of line?
« on: August 09, 2005, 03:17:05 pm »
In my ever-ongoing (and rarely narrowing) quest to put a tub in our yard, I trekked down to Capistrano again last weekend.  Talked to the Beachcomber dealer; he said he'd have a 750 filled up today that the family can come down and wet test anytime this week.  Seemed like a pretty up-front, knowledgable, low-pressure guy.  I'm also not sure if the 750 will give me a good feel, as the seats seem to be more contoured and "molded" compared to the open-design of the 730.  At 6'3", with a wife of 5'10", my two teenagers are doing nothing but growing, and we will definitely need some open space.  Regardless, we'll probably head back one evening right before closing.

I then talked to one of the owners at HS of OC, just down the street.  As I have all ready tested a Grandee and liked the fit, I talked a bit about what I'm looking for and various manufacturers, features, etc.  He provided me "no-bull" pricing, stating he can work on some aspects, but the general tub prices are set at what they "need" to make their margins.  Bottom line, here is his offer:

2005 Grandee (my choice of color) with new "updates"
Delivery & setup (no crane)
Cover
Steps
Chemical Start Up Kit
CD Ozone
Cover Cradle II

$10,190 plus tax

Is this in line, or is it way out of bed?  Thanks for any input....

That price is not out of line with the options that are included for the Hotspring.

In Michigan the HS dealer wants $11,999 for a Grandee and Vista, $10,999 for Vanguard and Envoy and $10,000 for an Accolade.

I was quoted $8700 + tax for that same spa with all the options you listed except for steps ($150.00 more).  However, I ended up going with the SD Maxxus instead.

Good Luck

I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about HS, but I think there are a lot of other tubs out there that offer more for that price.

If you're willing to spend $10K+, you can pretty much have your pick.  I would just suggest looking at as many different brands as you can.

Leaky,

That is a very good price for a great spa.  The DX MotoMassage is a wonderful jet and the Grandee is the only spa in the world with 2 of them.  That price is a little less than what we sell it for here.

I would check to see if you two folks are talking about the same spa. The Grandee underwent a model change and the new models starting shipping around the first of July.  If you live in an area where the dealer stocks tubs, they may not have offered the 'new' version until they were sold out of the 'old' version. The new machine has the Dual Moto Massage jets (Moto DX)

And larger pumps.

Yes Chas the price I was quoted was for the new model with the pump upgrades and the double moto's....  They also quoted the HS VISTA for $8999 plus Uncle Arnie tax...
We just had our 12 day state fair and these prices were a FAIR special, or so they say..  I ended up purchasing a SD 2005 Maxxus for $9800. inc taxes and the extras.   Now I just have to wait till the cement and electrical is ready.

Chas,

I have seen the Grandee sell for $8,800 here in Philadelphia after the upgrade so it does happen even though the normal price is probably well over $9,000 fully loaded.
