Cloudy Water--low ph and Alklaine
« on: July 10, 2005, 10:02:20 pm »
Newer tub owner here.  Everything has been going great.  Except today.  haven't used tub for 2 days opened up cover and cloudy water.  Tested with test strip and wife and I noticed very low ph and alklaine.  Would this cause this and if so what to use to bring those 2 things back up.  Any and all info appreciated greatly.  Thanks. Chris

How low are the pH and alkalinity readings?  If both are low, add sodium bicarb (baking soda, or pH up) if just pH is low -- sodium carbonate (soda ash).

How about the sanitizer levels?  Sanitation is the first place to look with cloudy water.

The other item that I recommend doing is making sure that the filter is clean.  Definately raise the Alkalinity and PH as well.

When my pH & TA are low, I get the same problem. A bit of pH up and TA balance, and the problem goes away 100% of the time.

I posted about this problem before, and didn't get a response, so I'm not sure if this is common.
