From the land of Jabberwokie comes this post from a customer:

We have a Caven Meadowbrook with 2 pumps, pump 1 with the filters and one suction return, and pump 2 with 2 suction returns.  This is adequate for normal operation.  We often have youngsters playing in the tub (a wonderful, safe, and fun place to have hours of fun).  We even installed DAIT 3 to assure that the water would be at a safe low temperature in the summer for them.
 
When one of the plastic dishes or tubs or whatever the kids are playing with get sucked over one of the intakes, the affected pump starts making all kinds of hurtful noises and the plastic toy gets crushed and is impossible to remove without turning off the pump (or whole spa if it is in the filter cycle).


Um. Something isn't right.  It crushes the the toys and the pumps screech, and impossible to remove the item?

Good lord.

I seriously fear for those children's lives.  That sounds like an extremely dangerous design flaw.  I can envision bathing suits or toys blocking some of the suction fittings and then.....disembowelment or worse.

Thank goodness I don't have to worry about my customers' safety.

The screwed up thing is, does Nutbag warn him? Tell him to turn off the tub and keep children out of it?
No.

He replies:

Your spa has four suction inlets.  There are two for pump two in the bottom, and the other two are the filter housing and the other, third suction in the bottom. This follows the ANSI UL standards.

In the SC spas we have up to 7 suctions in the bottom plus the filter.  I have felt the suction on all of our spas and none that I know of have what you say.  Can you feel all the suctions in the bottom to see that they are all working properly. They should feel about the same.  If both suctions are covered then you will get hard suction on both of them.  


What type of screwed up answer is that?  This is probably one of the most dangerous situtations  that can occur in a tub, yet he responds with a spec?!?!  I honestly think this posting over there is a joke. It's got to be.  No one. No one in thier right mind would answer like that.   Furthermore I can't believe he'd let a legitmate post about a deadly fault get posted there.

After reading that letter from his customer, I am officially starting The Church of Chas. This quote will be engraved at the entrance:

two filters per pump with NO suction fittings in the bathing area is far safer than two suctions in the bather area. The water flows into the filter area through THREE openings: the weir itself, and two open vents which allow free flow of water.

The filters are large enough and have enough surface area that you can't get stuck on them. Don't believe me? Go stick you hand in any running HotSpring Portable Spa. Turn on as many pumps to whatever combination of speeds you like, and then reach into the filter area and find a place where you can feel a strong suction. You might be able to tell that water is going into the filters, but you will NOT find any areas of suction.

It certainly is unfortunate his tubs are not sold in Canada, otherwise I too can have suction in the bathing area. What guy does not love suction?

I guess I just have to be happy with my safe Vanguard.

Didn't Jimmy boy rant off on if some little kids decided to remove all the filters from a Hot Springs spa, and somehow managed to wedge their head into the filter compartment that they'd get sucked in and drown?
 I clearly remember his rantings on that subject.  How ironic.
But not surprising in the least.

I got him to go quite a few posts without much trouble. Amazing how sensitive he is getting these days - I wonder if something is wrong somewhere in his life?

If he keeps going like this one of us may very well get a novel out of him by just posting a smiley face.

you wont see much from him hes busy ruining Terms life, hey I thougth he vowed not to post on that site again, he lied to us, I am shocked, I am also wondering how long it takes to reconstruct a webpage that holds all teh ETL info on his tubs and I also wonder how long customers will have to email him to get his story about how they are infact listed despite the fact that ETL told him to stop, I am also amazed that he is even allowed to sell spas in this state, oh geez Im gonna get a phone call for sure.

After 6 days off I only glanced as his site. 1 post I found funny though. A consumer posted and he baned him saying his IP was not from CO as claimed. What an idiot. The guys IP DOES go to CO. But he's using comcast and the fool traced him all the way back to comcast cooperate in New York.............. and I thought I was paranoid

Which leads one to ask... Do insane people KNOW they're insane?  

I refer you to an early scene in the movie Blue Thunder with Roy Schrieder.  In it, he closes his eyes and starts a stopwatch. He closes his eyes and stops the watch when he things a minute has gone by.  His theory is that an insane person can't distinguish a minute from an hour.

Yes, I know it was fiction and yes, I got within 3 seconds of correct.  

Blue Thunder was a crappy movie. What's next, quotes from "Weekend at Bernies II" to explain why honesty is important in a relationship?
