New House, No Internet For Almost 2 Weeks

Its been a gruelling couple of weeks. Amazing how bored I was with no internet.

Fisrt the provider screwed me over and would not send my modem until my phone line was active. This what there excuse, not the explaination of how things would go when they took the order a month earlier. I considered other options but the wait would have been as long at that point and I have had bad experiences with both of my other two options. I decided to try the devil I didnt know yet.

Then I realize there is no phone line in the room where my computers are. ARGH.

Well all is well now. I will stop by to say hi from time to time, but not as often as in "the good ole days"

DSL?  If so, you can go wireless to the room where you want the PC..

This is true Bill, but running a new jack turned out to be cheaper. I did consider that option.

My laptop computer is wireless, but as I sit in my recliner typing out voluminous wisdom for the hot-tubbing masses, I find that the wireless network in my home is rather slow. Especially if I am downloading/uploading images or other high-bandwidth stuff.

I'm sure it will improve, but for now you can't match the speed of copper.

Your not on wireless B are you?   My wireless G isn't that much slower than my hard connected machines, but I haven't done a real scientific comparison.

Copper here........and the wireless uploads/downloads just as fast as the hard connection.
