Cal Zone Quest 2000 Ozonator

I always think of the calzone when talking about the Cal Zone.

If you eat this Cal Zone it will give you gas!

The Cal Zone unit has the replacement instructions listed on the front housing.  When the spa is on standard filter mode, the purple light should be lit.  If its not and the ozone display is reading on the control panel, it probably needs the chip replaced.  One year warranty.

Why are you so concerned? Spa tech...it is a corona discharge!

I am concerned for the consumers who purchase this ozonator.  There is no manual stating when this item should be replaced and the responses are exactly what I expected.  

All that I am hearing is that the you should replace it when the light goes out.  Does that mean after 12 months I should open my cabinet every month to see if the ozone is working?

This is just one of the stupid things Cal does to justify their horrible reputation.  Buy this item, but don't give me an easy way to find out if it is working and the manufacturer knows that this item needs servicing.

IJM, is there an answer you can share with us on the servicability of the Cal Zone.  Is the chip serviceable?  I am familiar with bulbs that you can change, but not all CD/s are serviceable.  Can you help us out here?

Is there any ozone "chips" that are servicable or are they all replaceable?Does any manufacture give an exact time to replace the chip.If so than I got a "beef" with G.E on the 1000 hr household light bulbs I been buying.

Yes, Del has an ozonator that has a chip that they recommend to be replaced after 9,000 hours of use.

I didn’t calculate it.  Del calculated it for me.  

I am looking for some sort of printable information, that I can read and is objective, which states how long this “chip” in the Cal Zone Quest 2000 ozonator will last.

As I stated in my first post, I don’t want what people say like sales trainers or dealers.  I want what the manufacturer recommends.

Why can’t two Cal Spa dealers provide this to me?

Ok we answered the question,as best could be answered,secondly are you telling me that that chip will absolutely last 9000 hrs or it may last 9000 hours.If presenting this to a customer "the chip should last about 9000 hrs"the customer is going to look at you and say "this is how long"? your answer is about.....years.What is the point in all of this?I have never had the ozone make or break a decision on buying the spa or not.I just wonder the point and motive behind this whole topic.

The chip according to Del has an 9,000 hour life.  If you have 24 hour ozonation it would last a little over a year 1 year.  This is not the ozonator in question.

In regards to the Cal Zone Quest 2000, the point I am trying to make is, you tell your customers that it is supposed to last two years or at least the sales trainer say that.  Is this an un-substantiated fact or is it true?  Show me in writing.   How come you/Cal Spas can not do this?

Ozone does make or break many decisions, as an example look at D1.  They tout their ozone more than any manufacturer I have ever seen, so it does make and break some decisions.

a little over a year? is that 12.5 mos. 15 mos 18mos?You see it is stupid.I tell my customers 18-24 mos.It has an absolute warranty of 1 year. The 18 to 24 mos. is based on experience.

So what do you say to your customers?Now it is your 9000 hr ozone that is in question.

Does anybody say specifically how long anything should last?  Other than LED's?  The problem with Cal is the Lifetime writing on heater & Cal Zone, which is misleading to say the least.
