N2/high PH ALK
« on: June 16, 2005, 07:47:27 am »
What is your opinion of the Nature 2 system?
I'm having trouble getting the alk and PH down on my water.  I've used 3/4lb of PH down and the reading are still too high.  We do have hard water but the levels just don't come down.  Also my free chlorine is 3 and total is at 10 and I just shocked 2 days ago. So I've read on the N2 cart and it seems like a good system to change to.  Opinions?

It's my understanding that Nature 2 won't affect  ph.

I have customers that use N2 and love it, however I'm leary to set someone up with it that has heavy bather loads and bunches of kids using the spa. I just don't think it can keep up to that type of useage.

Slow and steady is the best way to lower PH. I have people that buy it in the 5 lb. size and we have them put some in everyday until the ph is in line.

The good news is, it will eventually level out and become stable ( untill your next water change.)

What type of chlorine are you using?

Should say, "Dichlor" in the midst of a bunch of other huge words.

Using other types of chlorine elevates the pH and you will have a constant fight.

Plus, you should use N2 along with Dichlor as a sanitizer.  (Or am I off-base?)

Yes I'm using dichlor, and I will check my levels after work again.  Water is nice and clear and no strong smell.  Then I'll add the rest of my Ph down and get some more, give it time and continue to soak daily. :)  I've only missed 1 day since I got the tub on June 6 ;D
Life is great!

Enjoy your spa, hopefully it won;t float away with all the rain you guys have been getting.

It seems it's all or nothing in this state...

I am useing n2 and posed this same question about 3 weeks ago, I was not too concerned because  I was changing the water, the water is now about 2 weeks old and I now have high ph and alk levels, I had never had high levels before, my dealer said that it was due to the temp outside vs the temp of the tub (I brought the temp down to 95 for the hot mounths) I just put in about 6oz of ph down and that seemed to put the ph at the proper level, so from what I understand it has something to do with the outside temp.

Wow, I've never heard that but that doesn't mean it isn't so.

The PH came down the Alk stayed up.  Total chlorine is still high after shocking and free chlorine was gone so I added some more dichlor and gave it a rest last night and stayed out.  Seems like time is the essense at this moment.
