Sliced three of my fingers the other day!
« on: June 06, 2005, 12:55:56 pm »
I cut myself while I was turning down the jets in my Optima.  >:(  I'm not the only one. My son did it last Saturday and a friend also did the same.  Mine was pretty deep and wide because I was trying to undo two jets to move them to another seat so that I could enjoy a different configuration and so was pressing rather hard to get a good grip.
This is the large rings (jets) that are adjustable in the tub to turn the volume of waterdown or up. It is the back part of the plastic ring. Man is that sharp. :o

Question, Am I the only clutz here that's done this? Has anyone ever written Sundance to tell them about it so that they can smooth that edge? Do othe rtubs have the same problem?

I say sue the bast**ds!! ;)

Though on some spas, taking the jets out can be a chore, I've never heard of these being so sharp that someone actually cuts themselves on them? ??? That's not good and Sundance should be made away of this!

Ouch!!!
I haven't sliced myself yet, but I've not tried to move any jets.  Thanks for the forewarning, though.

WHat I've taken to doing is using a cloth for better grip and no slicing.

Before I do anything though I want to send an email to Sundance and see what they think about it. I was thinking of using a little sand paper to dull the edges. It is only plastic but I definately do not want to ruin the look of the rings.

The warm water with such a fine cut, you bleed like a siv.

Reminds me of when I was cut with an X-ato knife.
Had to go get stitches.

These nurses didn't have a senseof humor though.

I told them it didn't start bleeding until I took the knife out. so I put it back in.

I've done it on my Cameo.  Not to that extreme, but have sliced the skin (not deep enough to bleed), but know exactly what your talking about.   And your right, it is something they should know about.

Originally when I read this I thought you were talking about SS rings not plastic. Stuart mentioned about getting cut on SS Rings. If you use very fine black sandpaper (230 grit) and water it "polishes"  the surface.

A nurse friend of mine told me that anytime you use water on a wound the water stops the coagulating effects of the blood.

I would think all that nice warm water would be just the thing to encourage bleeding.

I would be more concerned about the sharks. ;D ;D

Sundance will hear about it.  Consider it done.

I have actually sliced my fingers on the waterfall of the Caldera Utopia series.  The filter lid is handled too often by the customer, and it's poor design leaves room for the posibility slicing a finger or two.  IMO
