Summer tubbin..... Do you still heat it?

Does anyone turn down the temperature for the summer months when it might be more desirable to have a nice cooling down soak?

If so, what do you turn it down to?

It depends on who gets in and when.

Sometimes on summer nights we just lower it to 96 or 97.  If people are coming over duing the day we have lowered it as low as 92.

Just be careful, if you want it lower, set it to be lower a few days in advance (or let it run with the cover off for a long time).  Good tubs try not to lose heat, and if your tub is sitting in the sun, it could take a long time to cool down.

That's if you want the "sit in the tub for 3 hours with friends" soak, or you have young-uns in the tub.

If you still want the therapy soak, jumping in at 102 or 104 will not be much worse as you won't be in for more than 10-20 minutes anyway.

I was on a cruise last summer in the carribean and it was *hot* but the hot tubs on deck were up around 101 or 102 and the tub was plenty popular even with the sun beating down.

We turn our down to 102 in the summer, sometimes 101. Most of our tubbing is done in the evening or at night, and here in Ohio even 90 degree days cool off at night, its rare for temps to stay in the 80s long after dark.

104 to 105 ALL the time. I used to drop to 102, but sometimes it just feels cold.

On HOT days I usually use the tub at night, with a night time temp of 80 to 85 but humidity in the 65 to 80% range meaning it's STILL hot.

I usually do 15 minute soaks followed by 5 out, it's also a good idea to drink plenty of water or sodas, etc.

On Sunday mornings in the summer I do 2 hours of surfing, followed by 30 minutes in the pool followed by 40 minutes in the tub.

Getting used to hotter temps is the key. I sometimes get the best therapy soaks -- and feel the MOST relaxed -- in the summer.

It's a HOT tub... anything else is just a POOL!

We turn ours down too 100 in the summer.  Much lower and it seems like a bathtub instead of a hot tub
