Water Clarity and pH?
« on: May 30, 2005, 11:31:02 am »
I have in the past, maintained a high pH of 7.8-8.0 and a high TA of 150-160 and the water has been very crystal clear. Recently, I drained the tub and refilled, but this time adjusted the pH down to about 7.0-7.5 and the TA to 100, and I've noticed a difference in the water clarity. It is still clear, but not sparkling like before.  I have always maintained a bromine level of 2-3ppm.

Could the higher clarity of the water be due to a high pH/TA? My water hardness is in the 260-300 ppm range.

As well, does general hardness contribute to TDS? Would my water last longer if I maintained lower hardness?
