help! confused.
« on: May 08, 2005, 10:08:18 pm »
Hey everyone,

My family wants to buy our first hottub to put around our pool area.  We've looked at Jacuzzi's J-385 and loved it.  We also looked at Calspa's "similar" hottub.  After all the extra little pretties were added (to both) to the price Calspa was about $1000-1100 cheaper.  But, each dealer says his is the best.  Just need more unbiased info.  My gut says go with Jacuzzi...  What say you?  Should I look somewhere else completlely?   Thanks...I appreciate your input.

Cal spa is a weak and unsupported product, typically. I would opt for the Jacuzzi. I sell neither brand but used to sell Jacuzzi.
If you like it and you want it BUY IT!

Also compare Warranties.  Ask about trip charges.  Find out what is covered in warranties, and for how long.

Avoid Cal Spas at all Costs!

The tubs are inferior, the support is non-existent and they work to invalidate their warranties - you will not get the 5 year they tout unless you demand it in writing - then the price will go up - and a warranty from a dealer is worthless - they go (especially cal spas) in and out of business and change brands at the drop of a hat.

Read the reviews on Cal Spa - after 2 years I have spent $2,100 on repairs.  The jets are failing (8 are now broken) and they make it hell to order new ones for my two year old tub.

Don't buy a thing until you have checked out arctic spas.  What a great product! One look and you will see the quality inherent in these tubs.  But don't take my word for it .........
