master's (down east) or jacuzzi?
« on: May 09, 2005, 05:18:15 pm »
Okay...got it...no Calspas
New question Master's (down east-portsmouth se) or Jacuzzi J-385?  Thanks for all the help folks!  Appreciate ya!  ;D   By the way,  I've sat in the J-385...loved it.  The Master was not available, so I'm going by what the internet shows (the dealer doesn't have it in stock).

As someone who's owned a Jacuzzi now for almost a year, I wanted to give a bit of opinion.

I just today received my new J-355, an upgrade from the J-345 I initially bought.  Being that you're looking at the 385, you'd be getting the same control panel, but one extra pump.

From everything I've seen, I would firmly say that Jacuzzi would be your better bet here.  I've wet tested a Down East, and I think you'd be better off in their Master spas line.  Jacuzzi, although a sister brand to Sundance, has it's own unique features, and jetting to Sundance, where as Down East just seems to be the lower end of Master IMHO.

I think between Jacuzzi and Sundance owners on this site, you'll find a lot of happy one's.  As some others have mentioned, you get a lot of bang for your buck with Jacuzzi, and you won't go wrong with the 385, it's an awesome tub.

I saw the Down East Windsor SE and thought it was a nice tub but I wouldn't buy ANY tub sight unseen.

In my area there was a large price difference between Jacuzzi 385 and Down East tubs. I think I got a 2004 price of about $6500 for the 345 (?) and $500 more per next level up. The Windsor SE was around $6500, if that's the case in pricing for you then you can get a Master Spa (or almost any manufacturer) for $8500!

Ok I guess I'm brain dead here but I don't have a clue what Vinny is saying! If the 385 is $6500 and the Down east is $6500 how is there a large price difference?  And what the hell does $8500 have to do with any of that? Please someone educated me here as I hate feeling clueless!

OK, I'll type slow! - LOL

What I meant was that a Jacuzzi J345 (I think it was that model) here in NJ (actually PA) was at $6500, there is the J355, J365, J375 and J385. The dealer told me that each level up - J345 to J355, J355 to J365 ... would cost $500 more so going up 4 levels J345 to J385 would be $2000 more because the J385 is 4 levels higher.

When I saw the J345, it was at $6500 and the Windsor SE was at about $6500 - I hope this cleared up the confusion!

Vinny! Thanks for helping a fellow NJ/PA guy! (I'm in Burlington County NJ but in PA alot!) My confusion appears to have stemmed from the fact that I didn't read your post well enough!  I thought you were comparing the 345 at 6.5k to the Down east at 6.5k! I agree with your statement that if your paying 8.5k for a 385 that you should be able to look at almost any other manufacturer including Master! Thanks for straightening me out!
