Consumers Digest Best Buy Award
« on: April 24, 2005, 06:16:53 pm »
Dealers and/or customers, Does anybody happen to know how much money a hot tub company pays to buy the Consumers Digest Best Buy award?  I see that several manufacturers have purchased these awards for display/use in brochures and websites.

I am unsure of the cost...However....You can not buy the "award" you must earn it....Once you do, you than pay for the right to use it in print....

You must pay them to consider your product, then they compair all the products to see whose hot tubs have the best quality.

It's been many years since I've talked to them (they cold called me a long time ago), but as I recall, all they compare are brochures and perhaps any other printed literature a company sends them.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

So , in other words, if company ABC has a very comprehensive brochure but company XYZ has a lame, one page brochure, ABC is much more likely to be awarded the big prize and then pay a fee to retain use of the award in all future brochures?

It is my understanding...that you must earn the award..that much of it is based on surveys that are sent out to those who have bought and based on those....you than are selected for the award if chosen....you than pay for the right to use the award in your marketing....

Mendocino, How many years in a row can a company buy the award for?    Are these awards given out on an annual basis?

I'm aware of one company that's been able to do it 5 times in a row.  That's the only one I know of. ;)

I am not so sure you can buy the award......I think as long as you earn it and want to pay for the right to use in marketing there is no limit...
