Does shell need to be cleaned or sealed

Upon arrival of the spa, before the first fill, does the shell need to be cleaned and or sealed with anything special?  The spa is a marquis Euphoria.  Thanks!

When my tub was delivered, the install guys, once they got the packing materials removed, asked for the hose, and said "Fill her up"!!!

There was no wiping or sealing!  I have a feeling the Marquis will be the same!

When we change water we go over the shell with some shell cleaning stuff, and a scrubby pad.  Then rinse, as the water in the spa drains.
Do you have to?  Your choice.

Only need to clean it if it is dirty. Generally a new spa just needs to filled.

You didn't ask but you probably should do a decontamination of your spa. It could prevent any bacteria problems with stagnent water. I think the 1 to 2 hours that it takes to do it is worth it. I'm planning on doing it whenever I finally get my tub.

Turn the heater down, put 3 - 4 oz of dichlor in the tub and run all the jets and air if you have. Do this for about 3 therapy pump cycles and then drain the tub.

At least you know the tub has been chemically cleaned.

The typical answer is NO.  If your spa was tested at the factory, you might want to flush it out with a partial fill and chems and then drain. There is really no point in a full fill.  There is no point in putting any "wax" or other protectorant on the shell itself. Afterall, they are designed to hold up agaisnt the weather 9and chlorine).

I know this is a stupid question, but how would I decontaminate a Marquis spa with spa frog.  It uses Bromine, am i correct that you would not be able to use diclor, and how do you do this while only doing a partial fill.  I thought you could not run it only filled half way.  Sorry for the ignorance.  Any help would be great.

I didn't catch the Spa Frog, I was thinking dichlor. Also, I would fill the tub all the way, set the heater to low or disconnect it altogether (if it was easy to do) and run the tub for the time I said.

Can the spa run without the Spa Frog?

I think so, you just do not put the cartridges in.

This extra fill and drain cycle sounds like a lot of work. I have sold thousands of tub over the years, and only remember doing it once: the wrapping on that particular tub got opened up by the wind (top of the load on an open trailer) and it was dusty and dirty when we got it to the backyard.

Otherwise, I would just fill and enjoy.
