I am looking for a swimming pool forum.
« on: March 16, 2005, 08:37:01 pm »
Hi guys, I love this site and was able to purchase my caldera hot tub  from all of your great reccomendations. I am so happy with it.

we have just bought a house with a swimming pool and we have lots of question and concerns on how we are going to " vaccuum  it, and what brand is best, and how we are going to heat it. does anyone know  of a good site for swimming pool info? we were told the RAY-VAC is a great vaccum but this paticualr pool service company does not sell it, they sell the baracuda and said its better, I need to do some research.....I would like to get some help with my pool,  does anyone know of a forum site similar to this one? we also need help with a good pool cover...
thanks so much!

I've been going to www.poolforum.com for about 4 years. There are some great people there. Unfortunately the moderator, named Ben, hasn't been around for quite a while and nobody there seems to know what's up!

I personally learned A LOT about pools from there and I will warn you his ways are sometimes unconventional - he uses bleach, baking soda and borax as chlorine, alkalinity up and PH up.

I have followed some of the advice I learned on there and it has saved me time and money applying what I've learned.

I would recomend the aquabot Turbo, does the whole pool and unlike the baracuda and Kreepy Krauly it is not limited to how well your filter takes stuff out of the water.  Of course if you have a Diatomaceous earth filter the baracuda and Kreepy Krauly will work just fine.  If you have a Sand Filter i would Highly recomend the Aquabot Turbo or the Pool Rover Plus.

Swimming Pools, it's getting to be that time of the year again.
I think both of the cleaners mentioned here work fine. The Kreepy is my favorite, not only because of its price, but because it actually doesn't have anything in it to break down.
As a retailer, I have to tell you, for every 20 Aquabots that goes out the door, at least one comes back for repair. With the KK, the only parts that get replaced are the small wings and seal that do wear out over time, very inexpensive to replace.
BTW, I have a caretaker system in my pool, I never vacuum, it does it automatically. Automation is the name of the game here.

Anyone see the new Hayward cleaner? It skims and does the walls. I forget the name. All I can remember is the cheesy video they sent us (on disk) with a narrator pocessing a poor Aussie accent.

It look like a great product, the video just failed to program the product name into my little brain.

Kreepy is probably the best suction side cleaner.  Polaris 380 is a very good pressure cleaner.
