What is a good moisturizer to add

To the water.

My wife and kids are getting dry skin from the spa, as am I, though I am not getting it as badly.

It is not always convenient to put on lotions and such for kids and time etc etc.

So, if there is a recommended moisturizer, I'd like to get some opinions.

PS:  I am worried, under a different name I posted at JAs site and he says my Marquis is good tub from a good manufacturer - this of course is a 180° change from last year when he said it was crap.

Bummer about your Marquis - I thought they were a pretty good tub until I read that post recently. Oh well, do your best to keep it limping along and enjoy it the best you can under the circumstances..

There are many on the market, but I know this one works for me...

Has anyone had any success using something like Velvet Touch on a regular basis?  We've tried it a few times but it seems to result in cloudy water.  From what I can remember the instructions were pretty vague.  Something like put in 2 squirts or so...  I'd be interested if there's an amount that makes it effective but doesn't mess up the water at all.

I tried Velvet touch a few times and all I kept getting was foam out the wazoo (but my skin did feel much softer).    I have tried the Insparations ones with scents and they work very good with no foam. They have a moisturizer called Just soft (I think).   But YMMV.

SpaGuard Optimizer Plus is another good product. Although it is not what I would define as a necessity product (like balancers, sanitizers, oxidizers and stain & scale) it is one of our best selling products for the spa.

Not to upset the apple cart here but have you tried backing off on the Chlorine a bit? I could be a water issue that does that. Although by now your an old pro!!

On Doc's website, he sells "The Natural" which is an enzyme product that is supposed to condition the water for 3 months. There are a few people who use it there and seem to have great success with it. The price is decent if it helps with dry skin. I don't know if this is the way to go but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

It's amazing, I've been reading up on the internet about tubs for quite a while and just recently have people been mentioning about dry skin (or maybe I've missed it). I figured Dichlor and N2 following Vermonter's method on Doc's site would give the best water conditions to soak in. Now I'm finding myself a little concerned about the dry skin issue as I have one son who always had skin problems and I am also looking to see what to do IF it happens when I get my tub.

The main ingredient in Velvet Touch is Aloe Vera.  You can buy 100% pure Aloe Vera gel at the drug store.  I was wondering if you could just put 2oz of it in the spa instead ?

I have had dry skin issues all of my life (fair skinned and red headed)!!!

I find that the InSPAration product works great for me and the have one similar to Velvet Touch which has no scent.  Although the best thing for me, is to moisturize when I get out of the tub.

The Insparation stuff, is the unscented the same as the scented - as far as moisturizing?

Hmmmm - just straight aloe vera - sounds interesting anyone try it?  I suspect it might break down too fast and that other stuff in the product might be what holds it together so that it can perform its function?

Stuart - thanks we keep the Dichlor use pretty low.  1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons per bather per use - depending on how long the session was.

My water stays nice and clear since I began using MPS for my shock.  When I shocked with dichlor I had to add A TON of the stuff to get a free chlorine reading - I mean in the neighborhood of 6 oz or more.

But it has been many weeks since that was resolved.
