Who is PPVing this?  I think Matt Hughes is going to clobber him.  I just hope its a decent fight and lasts more than a few seconds.

Bet ya a beer....Gracie will take it to the ground then skill will beat strength. Should be a great fight though, not sure who is carrying it.

You seriously think after all these years out of practice he has a chance to win?  I loved Gracie back in his prime and haven't really followed him lately... but my money is on my boy Hughes.

Oh... and another thing.  It really bothers me that this is not a title match.  I think anytime someone with a belt fights another at a main event, it should always be a title match.  Really makes me wonder if there could be a predetermined winner.

Also, the skills vs strength thing... Shamrock was one of the best in his time.  Look at him now, even Tito Ortiz can beat him.  I think if Gracie in his prime fought Hughes in his prime then it would be an awesome match, but until Terminator gets his teleporter of sorts working, that aint gonna happen.   :)

I don't think Gracie is out of practice, I prefer to think of it as honing his skills out of the limelight. I was always amazed at how he could win when his opponents always seemed bigger, stronger, meaner, etc....

I am rooting for the old guy cause I are one! I hope he has one more surprise in him.

A lot of these guys are very bright educated men.... Chuck Liddell has a degree in accounting and Rich Franklin was a school teacher.

After their career you can change that to WERE very bright educated men!

Anybody that would take the beatings that they do for peanuts(compared to boxers) ain't that bright in my book.

But still, fun to watch.

It is amazing to me that some of these guys will fight for such little money.  I also can't believe that Matt Hughes makes so much more money per fight than Rich Franklin.  I just read that Hughes is making the same amount per fight as he has since 2002.  Franklin signed a 7 fight deal before his big win against Shamrock and because he is the stand up guy he is, he is honoring the deal.  Regardless, he is drastically underpaid.

UFC is making huge money these days and paying less and less to the fighters.  I love Dana White and the UFC, but this is ridiculous.  If the guys weren't under such long term contracts they could fight in Pride and make a heckofalot more money.

So, do you agree that the sport has evolved and BJJ is not enough anymore?

Matt Hughes is amazing.

Did you watch the undercard fights they showed after the main event?  Those had some of the best knockouts I've seen in a long time.

I'm not much of a beer drinker, so you can surprise me.   :)

I would suspect that golfers average more than 3 tourneys a year too.   :)

Matt Hughes makes a decent amount of money... but he's made the same for 4 years and has remained undefeated, so even though he makes so much more than say Rich Franklin I think even he deserves more.  The UFC is making major bank and they need to compensate the fighters for it.  The amount Franklin makes is ridiculous and even though he is under contract, the UFC really should renegotiate it for him.
