Artesian 100%

I have not heard one single good thing said about Cal Spas.   NOT 1.

If those are your only two choices - then the Artesian.

One of the most important steps is to define what you want your spa to do for you and how you are going to use it.

One shouldn't buy a half-ton truck knowing he/she will haul one- ton loads.

When I began reading your question my immediate answer was that whatever spa was to the right of the "or" in your question would be the winner.

I guess I am confused why you would post this:

I am really sorry to hear about your Cal Spa problem. It does seem as Cal Spas is no different than when Chuck owned the company.
As a spa dealer for over 20 years, I feel your pain. Year in, year out, same ole Cal.

And then ask the forum about choosing a Cal Spas or Artesian.? ??? ??? ??? ???

I thought maybe something had changed at Cal. I didn't want to take it for granted that this product line and it's representatives finally stepped to the plate without finding out through the people who are around it daily.

My bad...

If it looks like a Cal, sounds like a Cal, breaks down like a Cal, WELL it must be a Cal.

I too was confused because hottubber first posed this question in a way that certainly made it appear he was a consumer but then responded in a manner that showed him to be a dealer. He has since edited his original post to show himself to be a dealer so now it all makes sense. There's no harm in getting other's opinions whether its about buying a spa as a consumer, about bringing in a new spa line or even if you want to get others feel for the spa you sell.

It seems to be a nationwide issue with them although they are located here in California. There just doesn't seem to be very many reputable dealers willing to carry the Cal Spas line.
Even here in Silicon valley, there are only 1 or 2 dealers who "sell" Cal Spas, they do not offer "factory authorized service" or parts. This poses a problem for the consumer as they are thrown to the wolves so to speak with respect to service. The factory in Pomona is well known for their deplorable customer service. But what other options does the consumer have, when Cal Spas dealers disappear overnight?
If they would just put all that money they spend on advertising and web sites back into their customer service and quality control, they might be able to compete with some of the better tubs.

It seems that Cal Spas is putting their money into free hot tubs to people on national TV to get recognition. The more exposure they get the more they will sell, because we all know that anything seen on a TV show can't be bad. And to be quite honest with you, Cal Spa shows VERY nicely in the showroom and their price tag is easier on the wallet than other brands ... so with all this people will get taken.

Thermspas got me interested in owning a hot tub by donating (I guess) to a home improvement show on The Learning Channel and it looked fantastic - if you asked me then and for a long while after - I was going to own one of them. I knew nothing about tubs, all I knew was it looked great on TV, it sold factory direct so it was cheaper as per them and it had to be a good brand because it was on a home improvement TV show. If I was an impulse buyer and had the money I would be a Thermospa owner today - luckily I wasn't  and  I didn't and I found this and Doc's board to guide me through.
