Geesh, another thing Chas felt he had to out do me in.

Chas, don't feel you need to roll your truck 4 times.

I promise, Bill. Of course, even if I did, I bet I would heal faster than you.....

Hey - all kidding aside for a moment, I want to commend those of us who have been married a long while. It's very tough to do, and more so these days when society puts such pressure on us to have the best and dispose of the rest. I'm not in any way saying that makes us better than those of you who have not - I truly do understand how difficult it is. My wife and I work hard at keeping our relationship strong. We seem to fall in love again and again as we do so, and you can't put a price on that. I just wanted to take a sec and honor the long marriages represented here.

(The punchline which would normally appear at this point has been tastefully left off)

;) ;D

I have to say I am impressed with the long marriages represented here.  My tub is helping our marriage last, by keeping me very happy and content, my husband is happy and content!!!  ;D

It's just, some of us got a later start than most!  ;)

My wife and I are in the 7th year of a 60-year marriage! (I wonder if the warranty is out...after all most states only support a 7 year warranty?) ???

Second date was in the hot tub! (how's that Bill?)

Your marriage warranty is invalid if you don't maintain the chemistry. Its just like a spa, ignore the water upkeep and forget about your filters and soon you'll be dumping and starting over.

I am going on 17 years married and 21 years together. Being only 41 that seems good to me!

BTW,  what is going to happen the next time the birds decide to poop in your tub?  You are going to have a tough time keeping birds out of your cedar.  What to do?

What a great analogy!

I look at marriage like building a campfire, you have to add a lot of different things in the beginning like paper, twigs and kindling along with a spark. Then you have to watch it closely and just add small dry wood to baby it along in the beginning however, once you build a good bed of hot coals you can throw just about any log on the fire to keep it burning and if you really want a blaze select a special pitch log but no matter what, you have to remember to constantly add fuel....

starting, building and maintaining a relationship is very similar.

Then to bring this back to being spa related, if the fire isn't keeping you warm enough - get in the hot tub until you warm up and then get back to maintaining the fire when you get out. ;) 8)

True, but don't take a burning log from that first fire and decide to get a second fire going at the same time or you'll get burned.

Very interesting indeed!!!!!!!!

This thread has turned from a flock of birds craping in a spa, to how long people have been married......... My single life is looking even better to me!

If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

Well its been 20.5 years for me.

When my kids ask her why she married me.

She just smiles and says, "Someone had to be the martyr."

And on that note -

Everyone have a Happy New Year

Well, it seems insignificant compared to others listed above, but:

If my wife and I were still dating, we will have been together for 11 years in Feb.

In June, we will have been married 5 years.

We had a hottub for 2 weeks  :-[
and have been waiting for it to be replaced ever since.
