Question for CUSTOMERS about referral programs

My dealer give you a $100 store credit. Like that goes far in a hot tub store!

Jonathan

The above quote made me wonder, what do customers feel is a good incentive for referrals. If a $100.00 store credit does not incite you to want to promote your hot tub, then what will?

This of course assumes that:

A) You LOVE your hot tub!!!
B) You have a great deal of confidence in your dealer.
C) You would feel comfortable referring somebody to buy from the same place you did.

If the above conditions are met, how can we as dealers, entice you to promote your hot tub and dealer EVEN MORE than you already do?

as one posters info says:
underpromise and over deliver!
Honesty, don't bash the competition, and the $100 is adequate.

bottom line to me is: How would you want to be treated at a car dealer when you go buy a car?... sorta do unto others...etc  ;)

Our dealer doesn't have a referral program, but we did get a gift certificate for their store several months after our purchase.  That covered a several months of chemicals, anyway.

Well, when we bought our HS Envoy we referred a friend that had an HS and our dealer sent them a $50 gift certificate and my friends were thrilled.

I didn't tell them that I had referred them, so it was a complete surprise.

The way I look at it is 50 dollars is better than 0 dollars. So anyone that thinks $50 is not enough is quite selfish !

Just my 2 cents worth.   8)

If A is met then promoting the hot tub is a given that usually goes hand in hand with promoting the dealer unless B & C are not not met.

If you want "EVEN MORE" then the question would be "what's the commision your sales staff gets"?

I think that $100 or $150 (with my dealer) is sufficient. My dealer uses this as "advertisement" money - the best advertisement is word of mouth.

As far as how much you can buy in a store - since I don't have a tub yet I can't honestly say but if someone was to buy some dichlor and N2 cartridges with the $100 - maybe about a years worth of dichlor (~ $15.00 each) and a couple N2 cartridges - I don't think it's that bad.

I know this has already been brought up but, you would think good pricing, good products and great service would be enough to warrent a refferal without paying more. It should be a thank you gift not a payment......

I agree that it could - I didn't buy my tub based on how many referrals I would give out. Besides a friend who already bought a tub, I am the only one I know of that is buying a tub. My dealer told me after I signed the contract.

I'm the type that does plug people who give me great service and value. I did this with my furnace contractor, siding contractor and AG pool sales person. I will do it with my tub dealer if people ask about hot tubs!
