You can lower your pH with urine. You can also use up a whole lot of santizer too! That is disgusting. You can't stop kids <10 years old from doing but, but adults?

You can also raise your pH with air. Running your pumps with the air on will lower your pH. It will also cause your heater to work  more.

The trouble with both of these methods, besides costing you more money than using the right product (electricity and sanitizer cost more than balancers) is that there is no way to measure. How long to run the pumps? How much urine?

BAD IDEA

OK.  I could spend a lifetime looking this up but it is easier to just ask.

Why would air raise your PH.  I understand the concept. I never realized that air had a high PH.

Will air raise or lower your PH? I am as curious as salesdvl as to how air will effect PH..

pH=potential Hydrogen

Airating the water will increase the potential Hydrogen in the water resulting in higher pH in the water. I do not beleive air has a high pH, it is the introduction of the air to the water that results in the pH increase.

The more jets you have in your spa, the more pH creep you will experience. The same can be said if the spa is used more.

SpaGuard lists this on its weekly maintenance printouts:

2. Test and adjust pH regularly
    .......Spas with a large number of therapy jets (>8) tend to experience high pH
