Difference in Bromine Tablets
« on: October 25, 2004, 01:59:32 pm »
I'm looking at purchasing 'cheaper' bromine tablets as I'm getting low from my initial purchase.

The Leisure Time Bromine Tablets have the following ingredients:

ACTIVEINGREDIENTS:
1-bromo-3-chloro-5, 5-dimethythydantoin ……………. 60.0%
1,3-dichloro-5, 5-dimethylhydantoin ………………….. 27.4%
1,3-dichloro-5ethyl-5methythydatoin …………………. 10.6%

INERTS ………………………………………………… 2.0%
Available bromine ……………………………………… 39.2%
Available chlorine ……………………………………… 44.4%

Some of the 'cheaper' products out there just list the following as ingredients:

1-Bromo-3-chlor-5, 5-dimethylhydantoin..96%
Inert Ingredients.....................................4%

Anyone know what the difference is between the two?  Is one better than the other?  Do you use them differently?  Just thought I'd ask before making a purchase of something different than I'm currently using.
