Tips on "The Wet Test"
« on: July 20, 2000, 10:50:24 pm »
if you plann on wet testing you should be aware of what to pay attention to. Do NOT just jump in the spa turn the jets on. thats what everyone does then after a wet test the customer is still confused.  My guess is that you would enjoy them all right? Pay attention to the water clarity! This will back the statemant the sales person makes about filtration.(I suggest you go back the next day to see how clear the water is and smell it, find out if they have to dump a lot of chemicals in the water to keep it clear) when you get it, dont turn the jets on, move from seat to seat, find the comfort level without being pushed around. relax!!!Smell the water, how much odor does it have? The reason why i hit on this is because the water in the showroom is the best you can expect your water to be, after all its not used everyday and these are the people giving you advise on water chemistry if you purchase their spa. Then turn the jets on, find out not how powerfull they are, instead, where they hit you on your body, thats the most important factor in a massage. Look for the variation of massage, when you go to a massage therepist, they do different styles, thats what you want out of a spa.Sit across from you husband/wife notice the sound the spa makes, can you keep a conversation over the noise?? this is important, you dont want to turn off the jets inorder to speak! Dont act to relawed or enjoyable, test soaks are what spa salesman thriuve on , for they can slam you on a purchase if you show enjoyment. Always have a problem may be you can get a better price....

Hmm, I just noticed that Spasalesman and Mr Sappy have the same spelling/grammer styles. How odd...

When Test-soaking in the dealer showroom, the water may have more odour to it than you will have at home because most dealer's prefer to keep a higher than necessary sanitizer residual in the water. Have fun with your test-soaking!!!

That's great advice!

Another thing that gets overlooked is- if you think you'll ever share the spa with guests, try to imagine where everyone will sit and how easy it will be to move around.  Is it easy to get in and out of the spa?  Check to see if the required water depth is variable enough that most sizes of people can get adequate coverage?

Like SpaSalesman said, don't look too eager to buy - you can always hold firm that you're not going to buy until you've wet-tested brand X.  If you mention brand X by name, you get an opportunity to see if the salesman spends more time bashing it or touting his own.

Enjoy!

This is the second time that I'm aware of, that this has happened.  The other time was that offer for a free "facts" brouchure.
