Well Technicaly I guess all of the Pacific Ocean south of the Equator is "South Pacific". But I think most folks think of the islands that are south west of Hawaii

Actually Hawaii and a fair portion of those islands are in the North Pacific. Of course the southern North Pacific is also off the west coast of South America. Bali Ha'i, a part of French Polynesia, is in the South Pacific of course, as are the Samoan Islands.
